Kenilworth 2023 Infrastructure Improvement Plan Information

The Kenilworth 2023 Infrastructure Improvement Plan is aimed at reducing flooding and improving fire hydrant flow rates throughout the Village. In 2018, the Village started the planning process to replace the water mains along Sterling Road and Greenwood Avenue. Additionally, planning is underway for Phase II of our green streets infrastructure to relieve stormwater flooding along Raleigh Road, Leicester Road, and Warwick Road.

For any questions or for additional information, please refer to the information below or feel free to call Village Hall at 847-251-1666.

Committee of the Whole Discussions

The Committee of the Whole (the Village Board meeting as a planning group) will have several meetings to discuss the status of the proposed KW2023 Green Streets project on Raleigh, Leicester, and Warwick. The group will be conducting a review of the engineering and planning decisions made to date, and discuss the potential next steps.  The Committee indicated a desire to obtain additional resident input regarding the flooding relief project.  In addition to Committee of the Whole meetings, they will further discuss the project at regular Village Board meetings. Primary discussion points include the proposed use of porous pavers, options to obtain increased resident input, and project timing.

Permeable Pavers

After extensive study and planning, the Village is close to finalizing the design for addressing flooding basements and roadways on Raleigh, Leicester and Warwick.  One of the most visible components of the Green Streets program is the road surface.  Our analysis points to porous pavers as being a significantly better option than porous asphalt.  In October 2020, the Village had sent communications to residents located in the project area.  Please click here to view the correspondence that was sent to residents on Raleigh, Leicester, and Warwick. The permeable paver display was setup in front of Village Hall, later moved onto Leicester, for residents to review the proposed paver color and shape.  After reviewing them, residents were asked to provide feedback to Village Staff.

There's still time! Did you miss the display or want to have another look at them?

Check out the below pictures!  If you would like to have a closer look, please reach out to Village Hall and we can coordinate a viewing of the pavers.  Then, please e-mail us at info@vok.org to let us know your opinion, ask questions, or just chat. Hearing from you will help guide the decision the Village Board makes in the near future.
